Pros & Cons
PROS - Baofeng UV-5R cost is very reasonable. Radio is compact, lightweight and fits well into tactical HHR pouches. Initial mfg quality assessment is good. Unit fits well into charging base. Radio comes with a single earbud. Reception from NOAA was clear after adjusting squelch.
CONS - Baofeng UV-5R Instruction manual is terrible. Plan to watch a lot of YouTube videos to understand how to manage settings, etc. Note that this radio is NOT P25 CAPABLE so it will NOT function as a police/fire scanner in many areas.
